INMATE CAUGHT WITH DRUGS

A 36-YEAR-OLD inmate jailed on drug charges is facing more trouble after he was allegedly caught with packs of suspected shabu inside the Lapu-Lapu City Jail in barangay Mactan.

Glen Dihayco, a resident of barangay Punta Engaño, was allegedly caught by JO1 Ike Bacolado with six packs of suspected shabu.

Dihayco was jailed in December 2007. He is facing trial for selling and possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

According to the investigation, Bacolado, who was assigned at the watchtower, saw Dihayco  at the main perimeter fence, which was prohibited to inmates.

The jail officer called the attention of Dihayco, who allegedly threw something to the ground.

The jail officer later found out that what Dihayco threw were plastic packs containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Dihayco, a kitchen helper inside the jail, said he was just instructed by one Eddie Cosep to pick up plastic packs from a small canal near a fence in exchange for P200.

Jail Supt. Dennis Alino, deputy jail warden of Lapu-Lapu City Jail, said Dihayco will be charged for possession of illegal drugs.

Alino said investigation will be made to determine what additional sanction could be imposed on Dihayco and Cosep, who is also facing a drug case. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
