Quezon town councilor gunned down

LUCENA CITY — A town councilor in Sariaya, Quezon province, was shot and killed by two men who barged into his house on Thursday, police said.

Councilor Aristeo Ilao, 55, was in his house in Barangay Sampaloc 2 when the armed men attacked at 9:30 a.m., said Supt. Rafael Torres, Sariaya police chief, in a report.

Ilao died from bullet wounds in the head. Sariaya Vice Mayor Alex Tolentino, said he could not remember any controversy that involved Ilao, who was serving his first term as town councilor. — DELFIN T. MALLARI JR.
