Philvocs map shows where the earthquake struck.
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Libjo, Surigao del Norte on Thursday evening, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Intensity V was felt in Surigao City while instrumental intensity I was recorded in Cebu City in Cebu province, Sorsogon City in Sorsogon province and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.
The quake was tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs said that aftershocks are expected.
