Village councilman bet in Cotabato City held for gun ban violation

COTABATO CITY – Police authorities here on Thursday said they have arrested a candidate for village councilman for violation of the election gun ban.

Chief Inspector Esmael Madin, provincial field officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM), identified the suspect as Haakon Blah Mikhail Sinsuat, who is running as councilor in Barangay Bagua 3.

CIDG agents went to the house of Sinsuat along Mabini St. here at 3 a.m. Wednesday and served a search warrant issued by Judge Bansawan Ibrahim of the Regional Trial Court Branch 13 for violation of Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of firearms).

Seized from Sinsuat was a cal. 45 pistol and several ammunition.

Sinsuat, who remained under the custody of the CIDG, had since been charged for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the gun ban.
