DBM to pay out P36.2B for gov’t employees’ midyear bonuses

Over 1.5 million government employees will receive a total of P36.2 billion in tax-free midyear bonuses beginning May 15, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Wednesday.

Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said the bonus, equal to one month’s basic salary, would be given to personnel who rendered at least four months’ work between July 1 last year and May 15, as well as those who were still in service by the middle of this month.

Also qualified for the bonus are workers in government offices who have “obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating in the applicable performance appraisal period,” Diokno said. —Ben O. De Vera
