3 drown in Pangasinan over weekend

DAGUPAN CITY — A rice mill operator on Sunday  drowned in a swimming pool in Mangatarem town in Pangasinan province.

Lester Fronda, 24, was found at the bottom of a 9-foot deep pool at Manleluag Hot Springs in Barangay (Village) Malabobo at about 2 p.m., an hour after Fronda took a dip.

Fronda was taken to the Mangatarem District Hospital but had died along the way.

On Saturday , the body of Mark Angelo Castro, 25, was found floating at the Agno River in Barangay Bantog in Asingan town at about 4 p.m. A search and retrieval team was dispatched by the town’s emergency response team after Castro’s aunt reported him missing at 10:40 a.m.

Castro was last seen swimming on Friday (May 4) under the Asingan-Sta. Maria Bridge and had not returned home.

Also on Saturday in Bugallon town, rescuers found the body of Jaypee De Guzman floating in the Agno River at Barangay Bañaga in Bugallon town at about 1 p.m.

De Guzman, 33, was with his brother and friends at the river bank on Friday. At about 5:35 p.m., police said De Guzman dove from the railing of the bridge but had not surfaced.
