3 hurt in 3-vehicle smashup in Quezon
LUCENA CITY – Three people were injured in an accident that involved three vehicles along the Maharlika Highway in Sariaya town in Quezon province early Monday, police reported.
Supt. Rafael Torres, Sariaya police chief, said a Lucena-bound DLTB Bus, while negotiating the Maharlika Highway, accidentally bumped the rear of a jeepney which was about to turn right towards a vegetable trading center in Barangay Sampaloc 2 around 1:30 a.m.
Due to the strong impact of the collision, the jeepney driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the wayward vehicle slammed into a parked jeepney along the side of the highway.
Two jeepney passengers – Victoriano Ilao, 33, and Ken Buenaventura, 18 – and bus passenger Jouf Ameir Abrigo, 20, were injured.
Rescuers from the local government provided emergency medical aid to the victims. They were later brought to Lucena United Doctors Hospital and Medical Center for further treatment. /ee
