Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Oscar D. Albayalde on Friday ordered the relief of two police officers caught by transport authorities driving colorum vehicles.

Albayalde ordered the immediate relief of Chief Insp. Juan Saldua Cipriano Jr., of the Southern Police District; and Senior Police Officer 4 Ronnie Arimbuyutan Druja, of the PNP Aviation Security Group.

Reports said both police officers were caught by Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) and the Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) driving unmarked vehicles illegally being used as passenger vans.

The vans were also marked with stickers from the Office of the President, Albayalde said.

Albayalde said the two policemen will be placed under the Police Holding and Accounting Unit and will be investigated by the Counter Intelligence Task Force.

Albayalde said may the apprehension serves as warning to other policemen involved in such illegal activities.

“Nagpapasalamat ako na hindi nila pinalampas ‘yong mali ng ating mga [pulis]. Magsilbi sana itong babala sa iba pang [mga pulis],” he said in a statement.

(I am thanking them for not tolerating the wrongdoings of our policemen. May this be a lesson to other members of the police force.) /jpv
