Ex-village chief shot dead in Pangasinan

 
DAGUPAN CITY  —  A former village chief of San Manuel town in Pangasinan was shot dead on Thursday, police said on Friday.

Police said Ricardo Sumajit, 67, was on the provincial road in Barangay Dupac in Asingan town at about 9:30 a.m. when one of two men on a motorcycle shot him.

The gunman then approached the fallen Sumajit and again shot him several times, killing him instantly.

Police are determining the motive behind the fatal shooting.
