2 ‘kotong’ cops held at Naia for preying on cabbies
The Philippine National Police Counter-Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) arrested on Wednesday night two airport policemen who allegedly collected P100 to P200 from each taxi driver who wanted to pick up passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2. PNP-CITF chief, Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo, said that APO1s Pablo Atayde Jr. and Danilo Lavite Jr., members of the Manila International Airport Authority’s Airport Police Office, had been under surveillance since February because of extortion complaints. The pair was arrested after they received marked money from an undercover policeman who posed as a taxi driver. — Jeannette I. Andrade
