2 airport cops land in jail for extortion

Counter-intelligence authorities have arrested two airport police officers who were allegedly extorting cash from drivers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

In a police report, joint personnel of the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) and Intelligence Group conducted an entrapment operation on Wednesday night at around 9:30 p.m. against Airport Police Officer (APO) 1 Pablo P. Atayde Jr. and APO1 Danilo R. Levite Jr.

Atayde and Levite were allegedly demanding money from drivers picking up passengers at the Terminal 2.

The two suspects were arrested after receiving the marked money given by the CITF undercover agent.

They are now under the custody of the CITF at Camp Crame in Quezon City and are facing charges of robbery and extortion. /jpv
