A couple who reportedly sold drugs “to people from all walks of life,” allegedly including actor Julio Diaz, were arrested in a raid on their condominium unit in Taguig City on Tuesday.
Police said Sangki Makakua Jr., 58, and his wife Johaira Mayo, 51, yielded several sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P125,000, a digital weighing scale and a loaded 9-mm Armscor pistol.
Their maid, Maricel Constantino, 38, was also placed under arrest for allegedly helping her employers sell drugs.
The raid was conducted by the Southern Police District’s drug enforcement unit on the suspects’ residence at Building 5 of Maharlika Condominium on Pangandaman Street, Maharlika Village, which stands just across the road from the barangay hall.
During the raid, Mayo threw her “malong” (traditional tube skirt) out of the window, according to the unit chief, Chief Insp. Jerry Amindalan.
When recovered by the police, the garment was found concealing a sachet containing 20 grams of shabu.
Amindalan said the couple admitted that one of their many customers was Diaz (real name Mariano de Leon), who was arrested in a drug operation in Meycauayan, Bulacan province, last week.
The police have counted Maharlika Village among the biggest drug distribution points in Metro Manila.
