The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was created by Commonwealth Act No. 181 on Nov. 13, 1936. A brainchild of former President Manuel L. Quezon and former Justice Secretary Jose Yulo, it was originally called the Division of Investigation and was reorganized into the Bureau of Investigation in 1947. Later that same year, it was renamed the NBI. Its main office is located on Taft Avenue, Manila.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
