MMDA to reroute Roxas Boulevard traffic for May 6 INC activity

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday issued a list of alternate routes due to the closure of portion of Roxas Boulevard for an Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) activity on Sunday, May 6.

Some 500,000 individuals are expected to gather for the INC activity – Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty – at the Cultural Center of the Philippines before they march towards the Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park in Manila.

MMDA Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan said the closure would cover both directions of Roxas Boulevard from G. Puyat (Buendia) Avenue to P. Burgos Street starting midnight of May 5, Saturday.

“The main road will be closed. The service road will remain open for motorists going to establishments in the area,” San Juan said.

Motorists are advised to take the following alternative routes:

The MMDA said it would deploy 200 of its personnel, composed of traffic enforcers and members of the road emergency group and roadside clearing group, to guide motorists, help maintain peace and order, and do cleanup in the area after the charity walk. /atm
