3 cops in viral video may be sent to Mindanao – Albayalde
The three policemen caught on camera harassing a motorist may soon be deployed to Mindanao where additional personnel are needed, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Oscar Albayalde said Wednesday.
The policemen, identified as brothers Police Officer (PO) 3 Ralph Soriano of Northern Police District; PO1 Reniel Soriano of the Drug Enforcement Group in Camp Crame; and PO1 Rendel Soriano of Caloocan Police Station, were relieved of their duties and assigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) in Camp Crame.
Albayalde said he would order the accounting of police officers under the PHAU and deploy them to different regions that lack personnel.
“Actually we will be accounting lahat ng mga tao natin doon sa holding and accounting units kung sino ang dapat nating ideploy. Dapat walang tao dyan at andyan lang na nagrerelax,” Albayalde said in a press briefing.
(Actually we will be accounting all our people in the holding and accounting units to know who should be deployed. There should be no one there relaxing.)

The PHAU is where erring policemen relieved of their duties are temporarily posted pending the investigation of their cases.
Albayalde said he was mulling over the transfer of their administrative cases to the regions where they would be assigned.
“They can always undergo investigation in the different regions,” he added.

The Soriano brothers have been charged before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office of multiple charges of oral defamation, grave threats, and violation of the election gun ban.
They are the subject of a set of viral videos showing them confronting a man, identified as Ricardo Malaya, at his residence following a traffic altercation along Mabini St. in Caloocan City.
The videos show the brothers in plain clothes tucked with guns on their waist, harassing Malaya and his family members.
Albayalde said once they are found guilty, the Sorianos can be dismissed from service.
He said the incident should serve as a lesson to policemen to become more patient and understanding when dealing with the public. /muf
