Bulacan village chief, 2 watchmen held for shabu

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A Meycauayan City village chief seeking reelection in Bulacan province was arrested on Monday (April 30) during a drug bust.

Barangay captain Delfin San Pablo of Malhacan village was arrested together with tanod (watchmen) Ferdinand Llaosa and Jimmy Garcia before noon, according to the Central Luzon police on Tuesday (May 1).

Authorities seized 14.9 grams of suspected shabu (crystal meth) valued at P66,000 from the suspects. A gun and drug paraphernalia were also supposedly found in their possession.

The Meycauayan police filed charges of drug possession and election law violations against San Pablo, Llaosa and Garcia, said Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, Central Luzon police director.

San Pablo was not among the 207 village leaders in the narco-list made public by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

In 2017, police arrested barangay captains Jaime Dumandan and Joel Alonzo of Bintegan and Bantug in Cuyapo town in Nueva Ecija province for allegedly selling illegal drugs.

Barangay captain Benedicto Monses of Bulala village, also in Cuyapo, was not around during the search that yielded three sachets of suspected shabu.

PDEA agents also arrested last year Henry San Miguel, barangay captain of Mag-asawang Sapa in Sta. Maria town in Bulacan at a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guyong also in the same town. TONETTE OREJAS
