Barangay poll candidate shot dead in Pasay
A candidate for a barangay kagawad (village councilor) post in Pasay City was gunned down near his residence on Monday night, Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported on Tuesday.
The report said the victim, identified as Anthony Echavez, 36, was playing darts with his relatives in Cuyegkeng Street at about 10:48 p.m. when he was shot by unidentified suspects on board a motorcycle.
Echavez was rushed to a hospital but was eventually proclaimed dead.
Authorities are looking into politics as a possible motive behind the killing of Echavez, who filed his certificate of candidacy for the post in Barangay 4, Zone 1.
