Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Monday reminded employers to pay their workers the proper wages and benefits on Labor Day.

Bello said employers should follow the rules on holiday pay after President Rodrigo Duterte declared May 1 a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 269.

“For work done during the regular holiday, the employee shall be paid 200 percent of his or her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours,” Bello said.
