Central Luzon cops ready for Labor Day rallies

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 220 personnel from the Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion III have been placed on standby as the Central Luzon police braces for Labor Day protests on Tuesday.

The deployment of cops was “for crime prevention and control,” based on a security plan drawn up to handle unruly crowds here and in Metro Manila, said Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, Central Luzon police director.

Provincial and city police units have also been placed on standby for civil disturbance management in Metro Manila.

Corpus said all police officers have been directed to apply maximum tolerance when dealing with protesters.

The Workers for People’s Liberation and Workers Alliance in Region III are holding separate rallies that are set to start at10 a.m. in Pampanga.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Central Luzon have organized job fairs to fill up 2,865 job vacancies and 565 overseas work, said Zenaida Angara-Campita, DOLE regional director.
