Seventeen policemen passed the 2017 Bar Examinations, Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Monday.
“We have counted so far, 17 new PNP lawyers (3 police commissioned officers, 13 police non-police commissioned officers, 1 non-uniformed personnel) who will soon take their oath as members of the Philippine Bar and officers of the court. The DPRM [Directorate for Personnel and Records Management] is consolidating and updating the complete list of PNP examinees among the successful Bar candidates,” the PNP chief said in a press conference at Camp Crame.
Albayalde said he hopes the new lawyers from the 190,000 police force would continue to serve the PNP “despite the lucrative prospects” that awaits them.
“The PNP needs their services to add more teeth to our legal offensive in the campaign against criminality, illegal drugs and corruption,” he said,
The new lawyers may also join the PNP Legal Service via lateral entry./ac
