About 100 traffic violators, including two police officers, were flagged down in a joint operation of the Inter-agency Council for Traffic (IACT) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the IACT said Monday.

The IACT said this was its biggest number of violators they apprehended in a single day in Parañaque and Pasay City.

Among the cases were 57 smoke-belching violations.

The LTFRB, meanwhile, impounded eight colorum vehicles including those owned by two police officers.

The identities of the two officials were not disclosed but Transport Undersecretary Tim Orbos said that one had a rank of Chief Inspector while the other was a Senior Police Officer 4.

“I am disappointed that even those we expect to abide by the law first will be caught red-handed,” Orbos, who was also the head of IACT, said in a statement.

The two officials reportedly used two heavily tinted Toyota Grandia vans as passenger vans.

Meanwhile, Orbos warned government officials against using their work vehicles for personal use.

“To those who are planning or using private vehicles for public use, whether you are a civilian or a law enforcement personnel, we urge you to stop that activity because IACT will have no let-up in its campaign versus colorum vehicles,” Orbos stressed. /cbb
