Fire hits Gaisano Grand Mall in Lapu-Lapu City
CEBU CITY— A fire that hit Gaisano Grand Mall on Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City has been contained in some portions as of 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
As of this posting, firefighters are still trying to extinguish the fire at the fourth floor of the storage room of the mall, according to FO3 Ruffred Amores of the Lapu-Lapu City Fire Department said
The same floor contains home furniture and diapers.
However, the fire did not spread to an adjacent building.
The mall remained closed and the employees were safely evacuated. No casualties were reported.
“Our main challenge now is to clear all the smoke in the area. We already dug a hole at the roof to let all the smoke escape,” Amores said.
The fire reportedly started at 4:27 p.m.
