Dole seeks young Filipinos to join gov’t internship program

Are you a young Filipino interested in an internship with the Philippine government?

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) urged Filipino youths aged 18 to 30 years old to join the government internship program to gain much needed work experience.

According to Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique Tutay, the Dole is looking for 1,800 youths to take part in the six-month internship program.

“If you want to gain work experience in the government, you may join our government internship program. This is for six months and is for those with no work experience,” she said.

Openings for the government internship program will be made available on May 1 during the simultaneous job and livelihood fairs on Labor Day.

The interns will be assigned to profile child laborers in different barangays across the country.

Tutay added that there are 200 openings for interns who would be assigned to profile workers affected by the six-month closure and rehabilitation of Boracay.

Earlier, the DOLE said 143,085 vacant positions are up for grabs during the 37 job and livelihood fairs across the country on Labor Day.

There are 58,171 jobs available for local employment while 89,914 jobs are for overseas employment, with 1,099 participating employers. /atm
