ZAMBOANGA CITY – Four people were wounded when members of two warring families clashed in Lantawan, Basilan on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Rufino Inot, Basilan police director, said members of the warring families of Jul Amil Majindi and Ibrahim Alam had a 10-minute clash at sea off Caluitan Island around 10:30 a.m., resulting in the wounding of the four persons.
He identified those injured as Jamalyn Jalain; Mawali Amiril and his son, Michael; and Baser Hasim Sagdi. They were now being treated in separate hospitals.
Inot said the two warring families met at sea as they fished, triggering the shootout. Cauitan Island is part of Luuk Maluha village.
“The Amirils and the Alams have a long standing family feud or rido,” Inot said. /lb
