3.5-magnitude quake sways Leyte

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake rocked the province of Leyte on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The tremor struck around 8:55 a.m. east of Albuera, Leyte, a Phivolcs report showed.

The quake in Albuera affected Ormoc City, which felt the movement at Intensity 3.

However, Phivolcs noted that no aftershocks or damage could be expected from the temblor, which had a depth of 1 kilometer and was of tectonic origin.          /kga
