Suspended ATV tour guide hacks manager with bolo

DARAGA, Albay – Armed with a 77-centimeter bolo, a tour guide at the Lava All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Volcanic Adventure suspended by his company hacked and injured his manager late night Sunday in Daraga town in Albay province, a police report said on Monday.

Efren Leron, 55, manager of Lava Volcanic Adventure, sustained an injury in his left arm after the suspect Jaypee Nuñez, 26, hacked him at around 9:20 p.m. in Barangay (village) Busay.

Earlier that night, he was seen drinking near the establishment and had an argument with a certain Ernesto Malto, utility maintenance and in-house employee. Leron interfered to subdue the fight.

Nuñez then went home, fetched the bolo and attacked the victim.

Prior to the incident, Nuñez was suspended for two weeks for abandoning a guest during a tour.

The father of the suspect surrendered his son and the weapon to the responding police officers following the incident.

A case of frustrated homicide is being prepared for Nuñez.
