Duterte names MMDA general manager, SEC commissioner

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Jose Arturo Garcia Jr. as general manager of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Duterte signed the appointment paper of Garcia on April 18 but Malacañang only released it on Monday. He was earlier named as the OIC of MMDA.

Mr. Duterte also appointed Pia Cristina Bersamin, daughter of Supreme Court Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin, as judge of Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 198.

Malacañang also only released her appointment paper on Monday.

The President also named last Javey Francisco as commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). His appointment paper was signed on April 18.

Francisco’s term at SEC will be until May 20, 2021.

The President also appointed a former officer of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) as presidential adviser for indigenous peoples’ concerns.

The Chief Executive signed the appointment paper of Allen Capuyan on April 18.

Capuyan’s appointment came a month after he resigned as Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) assistant general manager following corruption allegations.
