2 killed in Pangasinan road mishaps

DAGUPAN CITY — Two motorcycle riders were killed in separate road accidents in Pangasinan province, police said on Monday.

Liberato Rimorin Jr., 22, was declared dead on arrival at the Urdaneta Sacred Heart Hospital after he slammed into a concrete road barrier early Monday while traversing the southbound lane of the Manila North Road in Barangay (village) Anonas in Urdaneta City, authorities said.

In Aguilar town, Eduardo Serrano, 44, was killed after his motorcycle collided with a truck in Barangay Bayaoas at 6:40 p.m. Sunday.

Serrano was negotiating the southbound lane of the highway when he overtook a stationary vehicle and drove straight into the left rear section of a cargo truck. The truck driver was maneuvering to enter a rice mill on the left side of the road at the time.

Serrano did not survive the injuries he suffered and was already dead when he was brought to a hospital in Mangatarem town.                   /kga
