LEGAZPI CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte graced the 24th annual convention of National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMPC) which drew around 3,000 bikers from all over the country to Albay province Saturday.
Duterte, during his speech Saturday night, told the attendees that riding a motorcyle was an interesting hobby and a good way to gain friends.
He said riding was also an “opportunity to travel places, especially seeing the Mayon volcano and other beautiful spots in other parts of the country.”
He said as a companion or rider, he would like to promote road safety and observe traffic rules “because he loves them and care for them.”
Duterte also reiterated that a rider should avoid drinking liquor and taking drugs while driving cause it could lead to accidents, cauisng injury or even death.
Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara praised the President for his presence and expressed his appreciation for the President’s affection to bikers.
Sen. JV Ejercito said the gathering would also serve as a tool for change for the betterment and safety of riders.
Meanwhile, Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal thanked the President for taking good care of the evacuees by providing for their needs while Mount Mayon was on restive status.
