GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Two suspected drug personalities, one of them the city’s topmost wanted drug suspect, were killed during a raid in Barangay Baluan here on Friday, the police said Saturday.
Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Gen. Santos City police director, said the police, backed by anti-narcotics agents, first swooped on the house of Sadat Suib in Sitio Mocsin in Barangay Baluan at 2:30 a.m. but Suib resisted.
Supiter said Suib opened fire on the approaching lawmen, triggering a shoot-out that left Suib injured. He was rushed to the hospital but died along the way.
Recovered from Suib’s house was a 9-millimeter sub-machine gun and eight sachets of shabu.
Supt. Aldrin Gonzales, speaking for the Central Mindanao police, said another team of law enforcers also raided the house of Abdullah Kallay, alias Dulang, also in the same village.
However, Kallay opened fire on lawmen prompting them to return fire, hitting the suspect in various parts of his body. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Found in his house was a 12-gauge improvised shotgun, four empty shells and five sachets of shabu.
Gonzales said the police also raided the house of Hamza Namyon and Abdul Mamalumpong to implement the search warrants but the two were not around.
No shabu or illegal items were found in their houses.
Supiter said Suib was the topmost wanted drug personality in the city and was also among high-value targets in the region.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, PNP-12 regional director, said the operations were covered by search warrants issued by Judge Oscar Noel of the Regional Trial Court Branch 11 here.
