Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) Senator Sonny Angara said he was humbled after he landed fifth in a recent senatorial survey, adding that the ranking will not distract him from doing his job.
“With all humility I would like to thank the public for their continued trust and confidence. This, however, shall not distract us from pursuing meaningful reforms that our countrymen truly deserve,” Angara said in a statement, after research firm Pulse Asia released results of its 2019 Midterm Elections survey.

Angara added that while surveys reflect what people perceive of candidates, politicians should continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of the nation, regardless of rankings.
“I would like to assure the public that I will continue to do my job as their senator—with our without the survey,” he said.
“I will work hard to ensure the approval of the expanded PhilHealth coverage, student fare discount and establishment of dialysis centers in every province, among others.”
Aquino lone opposition in “Magic 12”
Aside from expressing his gratitude, Aquino also hoped that Filipinos vote for ‘genuine’ opposition members, stressing on the need for a ‘dissenting voice’ in the government.
“Umaasa tayo na madagdagan pa ang kababayan nating pipili ng mga tao na handang tumayo laban sa maling polisiya ng pamahalaan,” Aquino said.
“Sa kasalukuyan, marami nang Pilipino ang nawalan ng boses at hindi na kayang ipaglaban ang kanilang paninindigan. Naririto ang oposisyon para maging tinig at tagapagtanggol nila,” he added.
According to the survey, Angara was ranked 4-7 and Aquino in between 10-19 (11th spot). /muf
