A 10-year-old child and five others were killed while one was injured in a hacking spree in the town of San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija on Friday, authorities said.
Senior Inspector Jacquilene Gahid, of the Nueva Ecija police, said the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. inside an apartment in Barangay Tambo Adorable.
She said the suspect, identified as Jessie Tesoro, hacked to death his live-in partner, Jennifer Cariaga, 24, as well as the other victims identified as: Leonila Cariaga, 48; Amy Caballero, 19; Josua Caballero, 10; Sergio Caballero, 29; and Sonny Custodio.
Annalyn Caballero survived the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City.
Two children also survived the attack and are currently under the care of the San Leonardo police women and children’s desk.
Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt operation against the suspect.
Investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the incident. /kga
