‘Door failure’ forces 1,000 passengers to get off from MRT-3 train

A southbound Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) train was forced to offload about a thousand passengers at Ortigas Station on Thursday afternoon.

In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said the train unloaded passengers at Ortigas Station after it reported a “door failure” at around 1:17 p.m.

Narvaez explained that a “door failure” may be caused by “stress on door components” caused by passengers “leaning on the door or forcing it open.”

Due to congestion, MRT-3 trains are usually jam-packed during peak hours.

The MRT-3 official said the passengers were loaded in the next train that arrived six minutes after the incident.

The affected train would undergo preventive maintenance and replacement of door components, Narvaez said. /kga
