Cop slain in Iligan City

ILIGAN CITY –A police officer, who was due to retire in three months time, was shot dead while jogging in Barangay Del Carmen here early morning Thursday.

One of two men riding in tandem shot and killed Senior Police Officer 4 Junas Balbutin, 56, according to Senior Inspector Felix Rabago, chief of the city police’s station No 1.

Rabago said Balbutin died from multiple bullet wounds.

He said Balbutin was already on a non-duty status and was just awaiting his retirement from service.

Rabago said the police were still investigating the incident to determine the identities and motive of the suspects. DIVINA SUSON
