High court verdict disappoints Leila

/ 07:32 AM April 19, 2018

Detained Sen. Leila de Lima on Wednesday said she was disappointed but not surprised that the Supreme Court had junked her petition to nullify her arrest warrant last year for alleged drug trading.

“I am disappointed but hardly surprised,” De Lima said in reaction to the high court’s 9-6 vote to junk her motion for reconsideration.

“It is difficult to understand how an impartial tribunal can allow a citizen to remain under detention when even they themselves cannot agree on the nature of the charge,” she said. — CHRISTINE O. AVENDAÑO
