2 suspected NPA rebels slain in Davao del Sur clash

DIGOS CITY – Two alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in a clash with soldiers in Barangay Upper Bala in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Rhojun Rosales, commander of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion, said his men were conducting operation when they clashed with NPA rebels around 11:45 a.m.

The bodies of the two slain rebels, who remained unidentified, had been retrieved, along with two M16 rifles, according to Rosales.

He estimated the ages of the slain suspected rebels to be between 28 and 35 years old.

“The troops are conducting pursuit operations against the fleeing rebels belonging to the Guerilla Front 72 of the Far South Mindanao Region,” Rosales said. ELDIE AGUIRRE
