DID YOU KNOW: DOH notes higher incidence of measles

According to the latest Department of Health data, a total of 2,427 suspected measles cases were reported around the country from Jan. 1 to March 3, 2018.

This was 294 percent higher than the 616 cases recorded during the same period last year.

There were eight deaths due to measles with five of these reported in Davao Region, the highest among all

regions.

The region also posted the highest number of confirmed cases with 122, followed by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with 95.

From Jan. 1 to March 3, a total of 2,427 suspected measles cases were reported across the country with Metro Manila accounting for 26 of the 440 confirmed cases.

Compared to the same period in 2017, the three regions recorded no measles cases. —Marielle Medina
