An emotional Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa faced the police force on Monday in his last flag raising ceremony, thanking everyone for all their efforts during his term.

Addressing his men in front of the National Headquarters Building in Camp Crame, Dela Rosa said he did his best during his 21-month term.

“Andito ako ngayon sa harapan ninyo (I am here in front of you) not to brag about what I have done, or what I have failed to do. Andito ako bilang ama ng Philippine National Police para magbigay ng pasasalamat,” Dela Rosa said, failing to hold back his tears.

“Para magbigay ng pasasalamat, yung taos-pusong pasasalamat ko sa inyong ginawa during my term,” he added.

(To give you thanks, my heartfelt gratitude for all that you have done during my term.)

Dela Rosa, as the PNP chief, led the Duterte administration’s bloody campaign against illegal drugs, which has taken the lives of thousands of drug suspects.

He will turn over his position to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Dir. Oscar Albayalde, his mistah in the Philippine Military Academy Sinagtala Class of 1986.

He will then proceed to lead the Bureau of Corrections as the director general after taking a break. /cbb
