Overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are predicted to occur over the eastern section of Mindanao as a trough of a low pressure area (LPA) continues to affect the region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

In its weather bulletin issued 4 a.m. Monday, Pagasa advised residents of the area to take caution as the light to heavy rain due to the trough of LPA might cause flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa gauged the temperature in Metro Manila to possibly reach up to 34 degrees Celcius this Monday.        /kga
