Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and six other passengers of another vehicle sustained slight injuries when their cars collided at the intersection of Don A. Egea and Maryland Streets in Barangay (village) Pinagkaisahan, Cubao, Quezon City, Thursday night.
Inspector John Ganzon, Quezon City Police District Traffic Enforcement Group Traffic Sector 4 head, said the others who were hurt were members of a Catholic parish church who were riding on a Kia van that hit Escudero’s Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle.
Ganzon said the intersection where the collision took place had no traffic lights and was not properly lighted.
Escudero, who was driving along Don A. Egea, was injured in the hand when the van driven by Manuel Merilles, 36, bumped the back of his SUV.
Ganzon said the passengers of the van were brought to St. Luke’s Medical Center for treatment.
They were identified as Ronil Domingo, a chaplain; Emy Domingo, 49, and Lourdes Olivades, 62; pastor Narciso Castro Jr., 62; and Ruth Domingo, 20.
Both vehicles did not sustain any major damage from the collision, Ganzon said. He added that Escudero and the church people have agreed on a settlement and neither party will be filing any charges.
