A fire that broke out in a house in Caloocan City on Monday night left a 70-year-old woman and her son dead.
The blaze which started at 10:27 p.m. was believed to have been caused by Banjo Carbonell who had been locked inside his room after he suffered a breakdown, said case investigator FO1 Jason Sarao.
Hours before the fire, Carbonell, who had a mental disability, went into a rage, prompting his mother Linda and brother Pepito to ask barangay watchmen for help.
Pepito left the house to visit a friend in Quezon City after locking Carbonell inside his room.
According to Pepito, his 50-year-old brother was a former overseas worker in Kuwait who became prone to fits and tantrums after he was forced to come home years ago.
Their mother, on the other hand, appeared to have died of suffocation inside her bedroom.
At least P500,000 worth of property was damaged in the fire.
