SAN PEDRO CITY-Outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Tuesday afternoon appeared at the Biñan City Prosecutor’s Office in Laguna province as the police filed the case in relation to the killing of a female cashier.
The Biñan City police filed a murder case against Richie Oliveros, the suspect in the killing of 20-year-old Kimberly Sanchez.
Sanchez, a cashier in a mall, was found dead on March 3 with stab wounds in her head inside her apartment.
“Remember that (Sanchez) and the Chief PNP shared a picture (taken from an earlier event). The family also personally sought the help of the Chief PNP, who in turn personally followed up the case to RD (regional director),” said Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police.
The photo was uploaded on Facebook by Sanchez’s family as they appealed to dela Rosa. The police later arrested Oliveros, the victim’s neighbor, based on evidence and witness accounts.
Gaoiran said Dela Rosa left before 5 p.m. for Batangas province to visit the wakes of Senior Insp. Alvin Kison in Lipa City and Senior Police Officer 2 Edilberto Eje in Batangas City, both killed in a shootout with a robbery group in Laurel, Batangas last Thursday.
Kison was a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy class of 2014 and was assigned in the Batangas police intelligence unit when the shootout happened.
Also killed were suspects Erwin Ariola and Darren Suarez.
After Batangas, Gaoiran said dela Rosa was planning to go to San Pablo City in Laguna where a shootout between police and a kidnapping group took place Tuesday (April 10) morning.
The shootout left five suspects and Police Officer 1 Ma. Zarah Jane Andal of Candelaria Quezon dead.
Three other police officers were wounded and remained in a hospital in San Pablo City.
