Pope Francis appoints new bishop of Tagum
Pope Francis has appointed a US-based Filipino priest as the new bishop of the Diocese of Tagum in Davao del Norte.
Fr. Medel Aseo, 63, will be the fourth bishop of Tagum.
Aseo will replace retired Bishop Wilfredo Manlapaz.
Aseo is currently at the St. Mary Parish which is under the Greensburg diocese in Pennsylvania where he has been on mission since 2017.
Aseo was born in Kapalong, Davao del Norte.
After graduating from St. Francis Xavier College Seminary, he studied theology at St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary, both in Davao City.
