CABANATUAN CITY – A 43-year-old mother of three, who invested P500,000 in an online bitcoin currency scheme, was returned home dead on Saturday, days after her hogtied remains were discovered last week at Quirino town in Isabela province.
Ingrid Vallarta, a former restaurant owner, was reported missing by her family after she drove off in a white Mitsubishi Montero (WRO 684) at about 9 a.m. on April 3, said her mother, 69-year-old Emma Ferrer.
She was found dumped later that day, her head wrapped in packaging tape. Vallarta’s identity was revealed and reached her relatives, when news spread online about the remains.
Vallarta’s body was brought to her home in Barangay (village) Mabini Extension here on Saturday night.
“I want justice for my daughter,” said Ferrer, saying Vallarta was recently befriended by a man who was “part of the uniformed services.”
She did not elaborate. Sources said Vallarta and her new friend poured money into a bitcoin investment project which is currently being investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and by the Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Ferrer, however, said the bitcoin investment could not have been the motive behind the murder of her daughter. She said Vallarta’s car was missing. /cbb
