2 dead, 20 hurt in car accident

Two persons were killed and 20 others were injured when their vehicle turned turtle along Km 70 at the South Luzon Arterial Road in Barangay (village) San Juan in Malvar town at 6 a.m. Monday.

The victims, all employees of the distribution firm Right Good Philippines Inc., were aboard an Isuzu pickup traversing the Star Tollway when the left rear tire of the vehicle exploded, according to Senior Police Officer 1 Marlon Fetizanan, chief investigator of the Malvar police.

Suspected rape victim found dead

A 28-year-old woman suspected to be a rape victim was found dead in a subdivision in Barangay (village) Cruzada early Monday.

Superintendent Ato Battaler, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said residents found the body of Maria Sarah Aragon, of Block 2, Central City Subdivision, at around 6:30 a.m. sprawled on a vacant lot a few meters from her house.

NPA rebels, cops clash

A regional mobile group of the Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed in San Jacinto town on Ticao Island clashed with an undetermined number of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels on Saturday.

Major Angelo Guzman, spokesperson of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division based in Camp Elias Angeles in Pili, Camarines Sur, said the encounter occurred in Barangay (village) Jagna-an at about 6 a.m.

No police casualty was reported, but the rebels suffered an undetermined number of wounded, Guzman said.

Korean missing after jetski fall

A weekend at the beach turned into a nightmare for a Korean family after Kim Sho Huam was declared missing when he fell off the jetski he was riding on Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Sebastian Chua, chief of the Opol police station, said the Koreans were having a party at Maravilla Beach in Opol town when the incident happened. Chua said family members claimed Kim did not know how to swim.
