Cop saves woman, kills her knife-wielding ex-lover
A Parañaque City policeman is set to receive an award for shooting dead a man who tried to kill his estranged girlfriend who refused to reconcile with him.
According to a report to Senior Supt. Victor Rosete, the city police chief, PO3 Danilo Bautista received a call about a Chinese couple having a fight at Puyat Compound, Barangay Tambo, around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When Bautista arrived at the scene, he saw Liang Linbo holding the wounded and screaming Zhao Xuelilan at knifepoint.
Bautista introduced himself as a policeman, but Liang, instead of surrendering, Liang tried to stab the officer.
When he missed, Liang went back to Zhao and pressed the knife against her neck. Bautista decided to shoot Liang in the shoulder as the latter was about to stab the woman, the report said.
Liang was later pronounced dead at San Juan de Dios Hospital, where Zhao was also treated for three stab wounds in the neck and body.
According to Senior Insp. Jerry Sunga, Liang recently arrived in the country to fetch Zhao, who was staying in a Parañaque hotel and working at a local call center.
