Duterte tells Guevarra: ‘Do what is right’

President Rodrigo Duterte only gave one instruction to newly appointed Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra.

“He [the President] gave only one instruction: Do what is right,” Guevarra said in a text message.

Guevarra immediately took his oath of office after President Duterte accepted the resignation of then Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

Prior to his appointment, Guevarra was DOJ’s deputy executive secretary.

He also served as deputy executive secretary for legal affairs at the Office of the President in May 2015 and as a commissioner of the Philippine Competition Commission up to February 2016.

He was a graduate of law at the Ateneo De Manila University and placed second in the 1985 Bar examinations.
