Rape convict’s assets all seized

/ 05:10 AM April 04, 2018

After more than 25 years, the Office of the Ombudsman had completed the confiscation of ill-gotten wealth from the former Calauan, Laguna, mayor and rape-murder convict, Antonio Sanchez, and his wife, Editha.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ombudsman announced it had received on March 1 titles to 19 pieces of real estate property, all in Calauan.

The pieces of property were now registered in the name of the state.

The recovery marked the full enforcement of the Sandiganbayan’s decision on July 18, 2016, ordering the Sanchezes’ assets — a house, two Mercedes Benzes, a Dodge Caravan, shares in a lending company and cash in bank — to be seized. —Vince F. Nonato
