DOJ prosecutors say PACC move alarming
The State Prosecutors and Prosecution Attorneys Association Inc. on Monday branded as “alarming” the recommendation of the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC) to President Rodrigo Duterte seeking the suspension of Acting Prosecutor General Jorge Catalan, Assistant State Prosecutor Michael John Humarang, Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Rassendel Rex Gingoyon and former Assistant State Prosecutor Aristotle Reyes over the dismissal of the charges against drug kingpins.
Humarang and Reyes issued the Dec. 20, 2017 resolution that threw out, due to weak evidence, the drug trafficking case against Cebu businessman Peter Lim, confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa and convicted drug lord Peter Co. —Marlon Ramos
