2 suspects killed, 2 others arrested in GenSan anti-drug operations

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police here killed a Bureau of Customs’ broker and his companion and arrested two other persons during separate anti-drug operations in Barangay Baluan on Monday.

In one operation, two suspect, one of them a former member of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, were arrested, according to Chief Insp. Aldrin Gonzales, the spokesperson of the Central Mindanao Police Regional Office.

In the other operation, Gonzales said police officers were conducting a search in Baluan, but Ruel Magaway, a Customs broker, and Antonio Villaplana Jr. opened fire with handguns.

He said the officers retaliated and hit the two suspects, who died while being rushed to a hospital.

Recovered from the slain suspects were a .45-caliber pistol and a .38-caliber revolver and six sachets of suspected crystal meth (shabu).

In a separate raid in the same village, Necon Serapio, a former jail officer and included on the city police drug watch list; and Faith Irish dela Torre were arrested.

Seized from them were 10 sachets of suspected shabu and cash amounting to P240,000. /atm
